Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki
Offering reiki treatments to restore balance, reduce stress, and promote overall well-being.
What is Reiki?
Reiki, Rei means higher knowledge or spiritual consciousness, and Ki means life energy. Reiki is an ancient Buddhist practice of manual healing therapy. The holistic life energy healing technique was discovered in the mid 1800s by Japanese healer, Mikau Usui (1865-1926). Brought to the West in the late 1930s, the practice as now spread to millions of people all over the world practicing Reiki.
Usui said that the purpose of the gentle but powerful Reiki healing treatment was to bring peace, happiness and health to oneself and then to others.
Taught and passed down through lineage of attunement leading me to become a level 1, level 2 and two years later a master teacher practitioner; having the gratitude, privilege and responsibility of performing professional treatments to help others.
The treatment is used to promote stress reduction, relaxation and bringing the body into balance. Reiki can promote resolving emotional distress by allowing healing energy to flow freely throughout the mind, body and spirit. This potentially can result in reduced pain perception and tension throughout the body. It can also help reduce stress and anxiety.
The treatment offers you to feel a deeply relaxed state and helps to improve a sense of well-being and calmness.
By placing my hands on your body and allowing Reiki energy to flow with your energy centres or chakras (see explanation below) reharmonises your energy and brings you back into balance.
How should I prepare for a treatment?
Wear something comfortable, something you feel at home in. Placing my hands on specific appropriate areas on your body allows for you to receive the healing energy throughout the whole of your being. This treatment is performed with you fully clothed, lying down on a spa bed giving you the opportunity to completely rest and feel at ease during the treatment.
Give yourself several minutes prior to the session to sit and reflect. Check in with how your body is feeling and take note of any emotions, thoughts, or physical sensations you are experiencing. Take some time to breathe and tend to whatever your body's needs might be on that given day.
I will ask you to complete a fully confidential consultation form which will give me a better understanding of the reason for your treatment and how I can direct the energy flow to help you.
To help maintain the flow of reiki during your treatment, it would be helpful if you refrain from caffeine, sugar or alcohol at least three hours and I will do the same, before a treatment. The less these stimulates are in our bodies the easier the energy will flow. If you need food, then try to eat something light so that your digestive system is not working hard during your treatment.
What sensations can I feel from receiving Reiki?
A common experience is an almost immediate release of stress and a sense of deep relaxation. Reiki is cumulative and even people who don't notice much the first time usually have progressively deeper experiences if they continue having treatments.
You may experience no bodily sensations of the energy moving, or conversely quite strong effects are experienced at times, including strong emotions, heightened energy flow, an energy “high”, fatigue, detox effects, and digestive shifts, rumbling tummy. The immediate physical effects are as varied as we are individual.
Tingling, like heat, is common to experience during your Reiki treatment. It's a pleasant sensation. It indicates that Reiki is flowing throughout your system and you're experiencing holistic healing. My hands may generate heat while placed on your body.
Seeing chakra colours against closed eyelids during a Reiki session is common when the person is highly relaxed. The colours themselves are an indication that you are letting go and aware of the energy flowing through your body. These colours are associated with the Chakras.
Seven Chakras - Energy point wheels, vortexes of energy
Invisible spinning wheels, perpetually in motion, 5 are located along our spinal column, 2 are in our head. These wheels can be healed and opened to ensure that energy flows throughout the whole of our bodies with ease. Each wheel corresponds to bundles of nerves and major organs which affect our emotional and physical well-being.

After your Reiki treatment
Please drink sufficient water. Reiki triggers your body's natural healing process, which means you will start a detoxification. Water helps to flush away these toxins, keeps you hydrated and helps you have more energy and focus. After your treatment as your whole being is brought about to a sense of calmness and re balancing, the process can possibly make you feel lethargic and sleepy.
Allow yourself a quiet time where you can reflect, journal and enjoy any lasting effects of the treatment, warm bath, gentle music as suggestions.

May all hearts be filled with loving kindness,

How often can I have a treatment?
It's best to receive 3 to 5 Reiki treatments one to two weeks apart. Once you see yourself improving you can space out treatments to one month or six weeks apart. Receiving regular Reiki treatments is excellent self-care and helps you to maintain holistic balance.
